Material world
Recently I have been looking for an angel with which to do some material wealth magic. For many years I have used the usual suspects of El, and the Archangel of Jupiter and his assorted minions. This generally worked, but in an extremely general way.
However I started wondering why there was an Angel of getting the lids off peanut butter jars, but I could not find an Angel of money. There were plenty of demons and cacodemons I could call up but no good guys.
This creates a problem. If money can only be called up by demons then it means that ALL rich people are evil. Such a concept is stupid and is based on the idea that money is somehow evil and spiritual people don't play around with it.
Unfortunately money is power and there are some cases where money is vital to managing occult goals. I went on a web page and found an expert cabblist who dug me up an Angel to call up and have a chat too. However the Angel in question is extremely obscure.
My thought is that modern occultists are being held up by religious views that are largely out dated. Since there has been no viable replacement for religion for at least 900 years we are stuck with symbols that need a rethink.

What about Auriel? I know Aur is light, but his name remind me also the latin Aurum (gold).
ReplyDeleteHi Nick,
ReplyDeleteI agree that there seems to be a block in the viewpoint of many modern occultists concerning money and angels.
In my experience mature individuals are pretty good at allowing themselves to author their own symbols and views about religion and money. But, they also wish to give others freedom to express themselves, too.
What happens is that archetypal angels are taken for living beings instead of the mechanical structures they actually are, and living beings are not taken at all. Money requires both.
The result is no angels, because angels can spot a passive attack a mile away.
So the saying goes..."where angels fear to tread..."
I think this may be the current view and it is outdated.
...also, just to comment back to Guido too...
In my experience Uriel guards and is not easily or ever distracted. He has never been concerned with material wealth. What good is it to him?
The problem is, that most Angelic magic/grimoir magic is based on an old religious world view that the material plane is debased and evil. To a large extent, that world view is held by the primary religous paradigm of the modern (western) world. The Kabbalist who gave you the name of that obscure Angel probably had to research way back to a period when being rewarded meant flocks and silks and silver and gold implements here and now, not in the "better world to come."
ReplyDeleteMight there not have been an obvious 'Angel of Money' because money is really only a means to acquiring something else? It's not money that is considered to be evil, but the love of money - a miser's obsession.
ReplyDeleteNot having a ready angel to call upon for money means having to focus on the real end goal and ask for that... and maybe you get the money to buy it, or maybe someone gives it to you or maybe you find it or get the opportunity to earn it etc. etc.
Focusing on just getting the money might limit the range of alternative possibilities of achieving the end goal.
Who was this angel, by the way?
ReplyDeleteThe angel's name was Dykrnvsa
